Yarrow, or Achillea Millefolium is a fantastic plant from the daisy family, Asteraceae. It originates from Europe and Asia. Because of its medicinal and ornamental uses, humans have naturalized it across the globe. It’s a fast growing perennial, and once established, can be harvested for many years to come. It is an extremely useful plant, and is a must have addition to any perennial, and pollinator friendly garden.

Yarrow has a longstanding history of medicinal uses. It’s astringent and bitter, and is used to treat fevers, wounds, burns, sores, inflamation, ulcers, hemorroids, menstrual issues, digestion, and more. It also has blood purifying properties, and can be useful in the treatment of infections. With so many uses, yarrow deserves a spot in any medicinal garden. It’s still debated as to whether or not the Yellow cultivar is as medicinal as the white. Some sources say no, and others say it is just as potent, if not more. Regardless, it is undisputed that it Yellow Yarrow offers medicinal benefits, and is used in the same ways.
